Meet Storyline Church’s Lead Pastor
Dr. JT English
In April of 2020, JT English became the Lead Pastor at Storyline Church. He is the author of Deep Discipleship: How the Local Church Can Make Whole Disciples and Remember and Rehearse: An Invitation to Participate in God’s Story, and the co-author of You Are a Theologian: An Invitation to Know and Love God Well with Jen Wilkin. He is also a co-founder of Training the Church and a co-host of the Knowing Faith Podcast. He received his ThM in Historical Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and PhD in Systematic Theology from Southern Seminary. He is married to Macy English, and they have two children.

Everyone is being discipled. The question is: what is discipling us?
The majority of Christians today are being discipled by popular media, flashy events, and folk theology because churches have neglected their responsibility to make disciples. But the church is not a secondary platform in the mission of God; it is the primary platform God uses to grow people into the image of Jesus. Therefore, as church leaders, it is our primary responsibility to establish environments and relationships where people can be trained, grow, and be sent as disciples.

Stories are powerful. Few things on earth rival the power of stories. Humans are captured by stories, we are entertained by stories, and we live in stories. But it's not enough to simply recognize that stories are powerful. We have to recognize that the power of stories can orient us to what is true, good and beautiful. And if they have this power, they also have the power to disorient us from what is true, good and beautiful. It all depends on the story itself.
